Got a case of the Februaries?

Is April really the cruelest month Mr. T. S. Eliot? I’m casting my vote for February: it’s cold, it’s kind of snow dirty, it’s gray, it’s got no game. The only thing it has going for it? It’s short! Ok, Ok, if I’m being honest, it’s always pretty in Leelanau County, even when the snow is dirty. But still!!

So to keep my spirits up in February I read all of the new cards that are arriving. And this month I’m smitten with Emily McDowell. I’ve always been smitten, to be honest, because she’s very real and empathetic and quite a bit smart-assy at the same time. She also manages to say exactly what you want to say with exactly the words you would use if you could think of them. If that makes sense. 🤣

I discovered her podcast, Quitted, this month and just finished listening to the latest episode which features her business story. Listen to find out why she spent 7 months in Bali, how (and why) her business name went from Emily McDowell to Em and Friends, how she feels about the business trend of personal brands and what she thinks about business expansions. It was both eye opening and affirming for me.
