Coco
The sweetest dog that ever walked the face of the earth. Unless you have a dog, in which case YOUR dog is the sweetest dog that ever walked the face of the earth. I know how it goes.
View items...Oh man. I know that a lot of us have had never-ending winters this year (Minnesota peeps, I feel your pain!). A couple of weeks ago, even though snow piles were still evident pretty much everywhere, we were graced with temps in the 60s and low 70s. And, after many, many, many Sundays cooped up in the house doing in-the-house stuff, Steve, Coco, and I were ready for an adventure outdoors.
Everybody knows that an adventure begins with lunch, right? We decided to head for one of our favorite sandwich shops in Leelanau County, Sisson's Main Street Foods in Leland, where I proceeded to order my first Greeky Turkey sandwich of the season. It won't be my last, trust me. I also love the Village Cheese Shanty, but that's for another day.

We packed up our food and headed to one our favorite secret beaches in Leelanau County. If you're familiar with the area, you can probably figure out where it is. We ate our lunch on the porch of the farmhouse in the picture above. Couldn't resist a photo of the view from the porch -- what a lovely place to rest and relax!

There is a secret path down to the beach. I can never really find it because it is hidden in the foliage, but Coco ALWAYS makes a beeline for it. The steps are rickety and the path twists and turns down to the beach.

And, when you're finally down there, THIS is your reward. Which always reminds me why I choose to live here.
